The rainforest banner is an AI-generated image supplied and selected by the project owner on 2 October 2026. It depicts an imagined place, not a documented real-world location. Converted to WebP without upscaling and cropped responsively; the image is not presented as a Creative Commons photograph.

Real places. Real detail.

Alongside the AI-generated homepage banner, the site uses real photographs from Wikimedia Commons under the Creative Commons licences listed below. The photographs illustrate nature, not evidence of the placeholder Showcases. Photographer credit, original source, licence and changes are recorded for each photograph; no photographer endorsement is implied. The Tianzi panorama is retained as a previous banner study.

Typography.

Manrope by Mikhail Sharanda and contributors; IBM Plex Mono by IBM and contributors. Both are hosted locally under the SIL Open Font License. No third-party font request is needed to load these pages.

Learning.

Framework guides are original introductory summaries. Their source traditions are identified on each page. earth.design is not endorsed by the referenced authors or organisations.

The World prototype.

The viewer uses WebGL to pan and zoom real photographs. It is not yet a navigable 3D landscape. Optional sound is a synthesised ambience, not a recording made at these locations. The World is separate from the generated homepage banner.
